Love - The Gift Of God To Man

The moon provides light during the night, the sun provides light during the day, it is Dharma that illuminates the three worlds, a virtuous son brings glory to his family.

The moon is a reflection of the mind. On the full moon night, the heart is pure and blossoms. It is this very light that inspires poets to bring out their best. It dispels darkness and keeps one peaceful. The sun gives light and without it there would be no creation, food, air, and life. The sun is the third eye.

Thirdly, Dharma illuminates the three worlds. Dharma is that which upholds and without it there would be no world. For all actions, Dharma is the life force. Each object has a Dharma. To burn is the fire's Dharma; to cool is the Dharma of ice. So that which is put on is Dharma. The heart should contain human Dharma. Triputi means the purity and sanctity of the unity in the Divinity. Whatever you say should be pure. The quality of the tongue is to be pure, sacred and selfless. Today the tongue is polluted by lies.

How should we tell the truth? Words should be sweet and void of emotion, harshness and agitation. This truth remains the same in all three times. Nijam is fact. Fact is different from truth. Today what you see is Nijam but tomorrow it isn't, e.g. you wear a shawl today but not tomorrow. But the one that remains and will remain is truth. It does not waver, change or die, whereas nijam is just the opposite. In Veda sathya is termed as Rutham. It possesses spirit and discrimination. Rutham is the combination of nijam and sathyam.

What are human values? They are only three: Prithi, Bhithi and Neeti. Prithi: Love for God, bhithi: fear of sin, and neeti: morality in society are the values. Love for God gives peace to the heart. When there is fear of sin there is love. Where there is morality there is non-violence, and hence love. We take Sathya, Dharma, Shanthi, and Prema as human values. But all these are contained in Love. Love is like a compass. It always points to God. Love is a special gift to man.

Jesus went to the desert for 42 days. He knew himself and asked for three boons.

  1. He shouldn't harm or hurt anyone but serve all and tread the path of truth.
  2. A heart that allows him to maintain his peace in spite of those who feel jealous.
  3. Love. Let me not give this love to anyone but You.

There are three levels of Divinity which are portrayed in the life of Jesus. I am the messenger of God, I am the son of God, I and my Father are one. They correspond to the three aspects of oneself i.e. What you think you are, What others think you are, What you really are. These statements represent the three paths, namely work, worship and wisdom. You start with work and progress towards wisdom.

God is like light. He searches everywhere. He even watches those who are gathered today and sleeping. Once Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was expounding the glory of God in the presence of Rani Rasamani and others. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa got up and slapped her to the astonishment of all those present. He then said, "When you are thinking about tomorrow's court litigation, why did you come. You should only come if you will listen. You should only listen if you are going to practice." This applies to the body, mind and soul.

There are three types of light, the light that illuminates a room represents selfishness, the dim moonlight signifies paraartam, the powerful and intense sunlight is yadaartam and truth.

In this world there are three levels of dualism that can be illustrated with sugar. A sugar cane has many bends and knots but the juice is the same all over. This is adwaitha and was experienced by Shankaracharya. But this juice gets spoiled and so is converted to sugar. This sugar remains intact over time and retains its quality of sweetness, independent of whether it is Mysore paak or any other sweet. This is vishista adwaitha as experienced by Ramanuja. Madhavacharya explained dualism or dwaitha when he said that he wanted to be an ant so that he could experience the sweetness of sugar, i.e. by being separate from God, one can experience God and thus become God.

Today we pray Loka Samastha (may all the world be happy) but inside we feel as long as we are happy it is enough. This is selfishness. Selfishness is okay but within limits. Whatever you do, if you love God, there is nothing beyond that.

Tulasidas sang, "I have Obtained the precious gem of the Lord's name. My guru gave me a priceless gem". When Meera was forced to leave the temple, she contemplated and realized that the temple was just man's creation. She sang, "Oh mind! Let us go to the banks of Ganga and Yamuna where it is pure and sacred". Ganga is satkarma (true action) and Yamuna is satpravartana (good behaviour). The place where Ganga and Yamuna coexist is Bhumadhyastana i.e. sushumnanadhi.

Sohum occurs while breathing in and out. Ganga and Yamuna are like breathing and breathing out. The central point in the forehead is sushumnanadhi and retains kumbhaka. Purakam means inhaling and racheeka is exhaling. These you do with the body. To be the recipient of God's total love, you should have love for God. Have love. You can attain God with love.
